6월 30일 정체불명의 한국인 4～5명이 제주읍 외곽에 있는 미군 활주로에 침입하려는 시도가 있었다. 미군 경비병이 두 배로 증강되어 이들 무리를 향해 사격을 가했다. 이 사격으로 한국인 1명이 부상당한 것으로 보인다. 또한 밤 11시경에는 미군 초병 1명이 자기 초소에서 무의식 상태로 발견되었다. 그는 의식을 회복한 후에 정체불명의 침입자들로부터 공격을 받고 실신했다고 주장했다. (방첩대 정기보고 제158호, A-1)

U.S. Personnel Attacked On CHEJU DO (Delayed Report)
On 30 June a group of 4 or 5 unidentified Koreans attempted to enter the American airstrip located on the outskirts of CHEJU City. American guards were doubled and began to fire on the group, possibly wounding one Korean. At approximately 2300 hours an American sentry was found unconscious at his post and after being revived claimed he had been knocked unconscious by unidentified assailants. (CIC P/R #158. A-1)
