b. 한국 국방경비대 본부는 1949년 5월 5일에서 12일 사이의 기간 동안에 지리산에서 게릴라 67명이 사망했거나 부상당했으며 42명이 생포되었다고 보고했다. 38선 남방과 38선에 인접한 지역에서 532명이 사망했거나 부상당했다. 제주도에서 2명이 사망했거나 부상당했으며 47명이 생포되었다. 이 기간 동안에 사상자 총계는 다음과 같다. 601명이 사망했거나 부상당했으며 89명이 생포되었다.
논평 : 38선 남방과 38선에 인접한 지역에서 발생한 사망자와 부상자 532명은 1949년 5월 3일에서 6일 사이의 기간 동안에 개성 북쪽과 개성 부근에서 발생한 교전에 대해서 한국 국방경비대 부대들이 보고한 사상자 수였다. 본관은 이러한 수치가 과장된 것으로 생각한다.

b. Korean Constabulary Headquarters reports during the period 5 through 12 May 1949, 67 guerrillas killed or wounded and 42 captured in the Chiri-San area (1073-1375); 532 killed or wounded in the area adjacent to and south of the 38° North Parallel; and 2 killed or wounded and 47 captured at Cheju-Do (915-1151). Total for the period, 601 killed or wounded and 89 captured. Comment: The 532 killed or wounded in the area adjacent to and south of the 380 North Parallel include the figures reported by Korean Constabulary units for the action that took place north of and in the vicinity of Kaesong (950.8-1690.8) during 3 to 6 May 1949. This office regards these figures as exaggerated.
