UNITED STATES ARMY FORCES IN KOREA HEADQUARTERS COUNTER INTELLIGENCE CORPS APO 235 22 May 1947 SUBJECT: Weekly Information Bulletin #5. TO : All District Offices, CIC-Korea. VI. ADMINISTRATION. 1. Attached for information is an organization chart of CIC-Korea which is explained as follows: a. In actuality all sections listed under and including Operations and Administration comprise headquarters, CIC-Korea. Operationally, information and cases go from Operations to the interested headquarters section and thence to the district offices. Completed investigations are returned through the same channels. b. Master files of CIC*Korea are maintained by personnel of the Seoul District Office. c. E.S. and M. Section deals with espionage, sabotage, and miscellaneous cases. In addition, because of the recent reign of terrorism, incidents of terroristic activity come through this section. d. Special Squad is responsible for Korean personnel, the document section, special projects, and the preparation of cases for prosecution and final compilation. e. The Political Section initiates investigations of a political nature and compiles all information pertaining to political personalities, groups and trends. f. Reports section is responsible for the daily periodic report, the Weekly Information Bulletin, the Semi-Monthly report prepared for the 441st CIC detachment and the Monthly Information Report prepared for the War Department. g. The Security Section initiates and processes all cases of loyalty checks on U.S. Military and civilian personnel and on Korean personnel, cryptographic clearances, determination of U.S. citizenship, disaffection, CIC personnel and applicants, and violations of AR 380-5. Security surveys are also the concern of the section. h. The District Supervisor conducts liaison and gives supervision to all district offices working closely with operation and administration sections. i. The Information Section collects and reports intelligence information on North Korea and adjacent territories and is responsible for special projects pertaining thereto.
