POLITICAL SECTION (Confidential). a. Miscellaneous . litical Reports Request that all offices submit the Bi-Monthly Political Survey in six copies instead of the previously requested two copies. All offices that have not as yet turned in a Political Survey will take immediate steps to do so. Recommend that all OIC's read the SOP and MEMO 38 carefully, especially sections which deal with Memorandum Reports and Summary of Information reports, as reports coming in from the field do not meet specified requirements. Many reports received imply that OIC's are not reading or checking reports originating in their offices. All agents will be required to read the SOP and MEMO 38 by 15 August 1947 and OIC's will submit letter to this headquarters stating that the above has been accomplished. III. B.S.&M. SECTION (Secret) 2. Sabotage. The only report on possible sabotage came from the Choju Do office whore the telephone wires connecting the 59th MG with the Infantry post at Choju airstrip were cut destroying the communication between the two. Since no wire was stolen and since no other motive is evident, it appears that sabotage is more than a likely explanation for this incident. Investigation is under way. 7. Assassination The governor of Choju Do, an extreme rightist belonging to the Korean Independence Party, has grown considerably unpopular with the people. During the last few weeks he has become the subject of many handbills, some of which call for his assassination.
