민간인 소요 - 제주읍(좌표 950-1150)
1947년 3월 13일 자 미군정과 경찰의 보고에 따르면 경찰 50명을 포함한 미군정 관리들이 파업에 돌입하거나 사직하고 있다. 이는 3월 1일에 있었던 경찰의 행위 때문이다. 중무장한 응원경찰이 이미 섬으로 파견되었으며 미군정과 주한미군의 조사반도 파견되었다. 파업의 범위는 통신 장애로 파악되지 않고 있는 상황이다. 경찰의 행위가 6명을 사망케 하고, 숫자 미상의 사람들을 부상시킨 결과를 초래했다고 일컬어지고 있다. 미군은 군중을 해산시키기는 하였지만 무기를 사용하지는 않았다. (정기보고서 제469호 참조)

13 March 47- Reports from Military Government and the National Police state that MG employees, including fifty police, have either gone on a strike or resigned from their positions as a result of the police action on 01 March. Heavy police reinforcements have been dispatched to the island. In addition, investigating groups have been sent by USAMGIK and USAFIK. The extent of this strike is in doubt due to the difficulty of communications. The police action referred to resulted in the death of six persons and the wounding of an unknown number. US Troops were used to disperse the crowd, but did not use weapons. (See Par 4a, P/R #469)
