좌익 민주주의민족전선은 주한미군사령관에게 보낸 3월 28일자 서신에서 최근의 파업은 정당하며, 미군정에 기생해온 반동경찰과 친일파의 파시스트적인 억압에 대한 피할 수 없는 저항이었다고 주장했다. 동 서신은 파업은 미군정에 대항해서 일어난 것이 아니며 권력을 얻으려는 자들과 친일 혹은 반동분자들에 대해서만 대항하는 것이라고 주장하고 있다. 동 서신은 또한 우익의 테러리스트적 집단의 요인을 언급하였다.
논평 : 좌익 지도자 허헌이 이끄는 이 조직은 좌익 정치단체의 선도자로서 받아들여질 수 있다. 민전은 파업을 자발적인 사건으로 규정하고 있지만, 이용 가능한 증거에 의하면 파업이 서울에서 내려온 명령에 근거하고 있음을 나타내고 있다.

(3) The Democratic National Front Comments on Recent Strike
A letter dated 28 March from the Left Wing Democratic People's Front to the American Commander in KOREA states that the recent strikes were a justifiable and an inevitable opposition against the fascistic repression by the reactionary police and pro-Japanese who have wormed their way into USAMGIK. This letter states that the strike was not against USAMGIK, but only those that had managed to obtain power and who were pro-Japanese or reactionary. The CHEJU-DO strike was included as a strike against the police. In this letter the additional factor of terroristic gangs of the Right also was mentioned (see par 3e/2/, above).
COMMENT: This organization, headed by HU, Hun, the leader of the Left Wing, can be accepted as the leader of the Left Wing political groups. The Democratic People's Front characterizes the strike as spontaneous, but available evidence indicates that orders from SEOUL were the basis.
