CHOLLA-SOUTH: Such satisfactory progress has been made by Korean officials in assuming governmental duties in CHOLLA-SOUTH Province that Military Gov- ornment has requested the deactivation of all MG Companies within the province. With the exception of the management of alien properties, and, to a certain extent, civil police activities which require further closer supervision, all government functions are now controlled by Korean officials. All communications for the transmission of orders to subordinate governmental agencies are now handled through Korean channels, and all decisions except major decisions are made by the Koreans themselves. The activities and personnel of MG Companies in MOKPO (938 - 1307), SUNCHON (1048 - 1327), and KWANGJU (991 - 1350) are gradually being reduced and absorbed by the 101st MG Group in KWANGJU. CHEJU Island, which is now controlled by the 59th MG Co under the control of the 101st MG Group, will become a separate province, effective 1 Aug 46, and will be under the supervision of a separate provincial group.
