제주도: 방첩대는 1947년 3월 19일～3월 21일자 보고서에서 1,000명의 군중들이 제주도의 북동쪽 해안에 있는 중문지서에 몰려가 한 죄수의 석방을 요구했다는 정보를 경찰로부터 받았다고 밝혔다. 군중들은 몽둥이와 돌멩이로 무장하고 있었다. 군중들이 돌을 던지며 형무소로 돌진하려 하자 경찰이 발포했다. 주민 4명이 부상을 당했고, 군중들은 발포 직후 해산했다.

(EXTRACT: USAFIK G-2 Periodic Report #486, 22 March 1947):
"CHEJU-DO (980 - 1130) - 19 March 1947 - A CIC report dated 21 March states that information has been received from the National Police that 1,000 people approached CHUNG MUN jail on the Northeast coast of CHEJU Island and demanded the release of a prisoner. The people were armed with clubs and rocks. When the crowd began throwing rocks and attempted to rush the jail the police fired, wounding four people. The crowd dispersed following the shooting."
