(1) Extract KWANGJU CIC Report #539, 22 March 1947: "At 0915, 22 March 47, an illegal meeting of about 150 Military Government officials was held in the rear of the Provincial Capitol grounds. The meeting lasted about 20 minutes and broke up upon the appearance of the MG Chief of Civil Affairs Officer (Military Governor). Although it appeared as if the meeting was instigated by a few disgruntled MG employees, agitators could be seen moving through the crowd and probably the reel leaders back of the meeting were not among the si[illegible] persons on the speaker's platform. The discussion at this meeting concerned low wages, high cost of living, striking in sympathy with CHEJU-DO (930 - 1130) officials and transfer of some MG employees."
