Airfields in South Korea: (Refer to Sketch No. 1) (a) Cheju Airfield: Cheju Airfield, near the north central coast of Cheju Island, approximately 1.5 miles southwest of the town of Cheju, has been abandoned as a U.S. Air Force airdrome but is serviceable in dry weather for C-46-type transports and smaller aircraft. At present it is used for courier service to the island and serves as an emergency landing field. The two runways at the field are composed of rolled earth and sod on a base of volcanic ash. One runway is 5,910 by 984 feet while the other is 6,574 by 660 feet. Housing facilities at the field are in poor condition. (a,b,c,d) MISCELLANEOUS 2.
