12월 14일 경비대가 모슬포, 서귀포, 남원리와 한라산 정상 부근에서 폭도를 제거하기 위한 4개 지구 합동작전을 벌이는 동안 3,000명의 주민들이 경비대를 도왔다. 작전 결과 폭도 105명을 사살하고, 99식 소총 10정과 다량의 식량을 노획했다. 경비대와 주민 사상자는 알려지지 않았다. (경비대 보고)
논평 : 제주도민들은 아마 그들의 마을에 대한 무차별적인 게릴라 활동을 앙갚음하기 위해 점점 더 많은 인원이 게릴라를 찾기 위하여 오름들을 빗질하듯이 수색함으로써 당국의 활동을 계속 돕고 있다. (주간정보요약, 제166호 9페이지 참조)

(2) Civilians Assist Constabulary on CHEJU-DO
On 14 December the Constabulary on CHEJU-DO were supported by 3,000 civilians during four joint operations in a concerted effort to eliminate raiders near MOSULPO (920-1110), SOGWI PO (950-1110), HAMWON NI (970- 1120) and HALLA SAF (950-1130). These four operations resulted in 105 raiders killed, 10 Japanese "99" rifles captured and foodstuffs confiscated. Constabulary and civilian casualties are not known. (Constabulary Report)
COMMENT: The civilians on CHEJU DO are continuing to assist the authorities in ever increasing numbers by combining the hills for guerrillas, probably to retaliate for indiscriminate guerrilla activity against their villages (see page 9, W/S #166).
