다음은 1949년 4월 29일자 유엔한국위원단 언론발표 제12호이다.
“위원단은 제27차 회의에서 남한의 소요지역에 대한 시찰계획을 계속하기 위해 1949년 5월 8일 제주도로 떠나기로 결정했다.
이날 회의에서 위원단은 또 대한민국 외무장관 임병직이 5월 10일 제주도의 선거를 시찰하기 위한 위원단을 환영하면서 1949년 4월 22일 의장 앞으로 보낸 서한에 주목했다.
한국민의 대표를 선출하기 위한 선거를 촉진하고 감시하는데 있던 지난해 임시위원단과는 달리 위원단은 단순히 투표일 당일 일부 투표소를 참관하는 시기에 제주도 방문을 이용하는 게 기쁠 것이다.
위원단의 제주도 방문은 3～4일 정도 될 것이다.”

Here follows UNCOK press release No. 12 dated April 29, 1949:
"At its 27th meeting the Commission decided to [illegible] to
theju Do on the 8th of May 1949 in order to continue its pro-
gram of trips in disturbed areas of South Korea.
"At the same meeting the Commission also took note of a
letter addressed to its Chairman on 22nd April 1949 from Cho[illegible]
B. Limb, Foreign Minister of the Republic of F[illegible], understanding
the Commission to observe the elections in Cheju Do on [illegible] [illegible].
"Unlike the Temporary Commission last year, whose visit
was to facilitate and observe the elections of representatives of
of the Korean people, the Commission will simply be glad to
take advantage of its visit to Cheju Do at the time of the
elections to be present at some voting places during polling
"The Commission's visit to Cheju Do will last between
three and four days."
